MAC came out with a new collection to add to the permanent line, the Matchmaster.
“Who doesn’t want their concealer to be a perfect match? Formulated to enhance the subtleties of your skin tone, new Matchmaster Concealer features the same Shade Intelligence Technology as our Matchmaster Foundation SPF 15, which utilizes breakthrough pigment technology to create your own personalized shade. Providing medium buildable coverage, its true-to-life shades give you perfect colour purity that isn’t ashy or chalky. Vitamin E conditions as the concealer reduces the appearance of under eye circles, dark spots, discolouration, fine lines and wrinkles. Packaged in a convenient, portable stick, it launches in 12 diverse shades, with colour-true coverage for up to eight hours“.
How is this collection composed?
The Matchmaster line claims to be revolutionary and aims to give you the perfect match with your skintone.
It consists of 12 shades of foundation and of 12 shades of matching concealer. It’s formulated to cover any discolouration and imperfections you may have and to reduce the appearence of fine lines.
Matchmaster Foundation SPF 15 • US$35.00 (35 ml / 1.18 US fl oz)
It’s a liquid foundation that contains an SPF of 15. It has a buildable coverage and a demi matte finish. It looks really natural and almost invisible and airbrushed , if used with light hand, but, if you have great skin problems, this may not work for you. If you tend to build it, it may appear obvious that you’re wearing it, but doesn’t look cakey, unless you put the entire bottle on your face. Just kidding.
It’s avaiable in 12 shades.
I don’t see this perfoming well on dry skins. You can make it full coverage with the help of the matching concealer.
They suggest you to apply it with this tool, the 193 angled brush:
Matchmaster Concealer • US$21.00 (3.5 g / .12 fl US oz )
It a satin and provides a medium coverage. It “features the same Shade Intelligence Technology as the Matchmaster Foundation SPF 15″. It should last up to 8 hours (maybe with a minimal amount of loose powder?). It’s not extremely thick, but don’t expect this to cover the 100% of your imperfection. It has a medium coverage. Don’t build it too much or it will look cakey and will move.
The concealer features a cylindrical black and sleek tube. Definitely more hygienic than the pot one. Perfect for touch up, when you’re out!

This concealer, as the foundation, was not designed to give you a fake-looking full coverage. It wants to enhance your skin, by making it more even and “invisibile“. The demi matte foundation provides you a great base to work with, even alone. The satin concealer, i think it can give back even more dimension to the face. The combo should do magic!
And the great thing is that has SPF in it, so you’re a protected outside from sun’s rays.
I highly recommend to go to your local MAC store and have your shade matched. Look at youself at sunlight, see if it does oxidase and be sure to match your face with your chest and neck. Don’t try it on your hand, forearm or face itself. It’s a wrong misconception and you may end up buying an expensive product that doesn’t really do the right job for you. They are usually kind enough to give you samples. Try to understand your undertone and ask 2 or 3 shades in between the one you think matches you, so you can see what works best on you! Take photos of yourself outdoors, indoors and with flash lighting and ask people around you what do they think.
How to use the Concealer
It has a medium coverage and a sheer, satin finish. You want your skin to look covered, but still natural and gorgeous. Dab, but don’t drag! Dragging your concealer while you’re applying it, makes it lose a good part of shine and coverage.
You can use the brush recommended for this product, the 195 synthetic concealer brush:
- Matchmaster Concealer • US$21.00 (3.5 g / .12 fl US oz)
- Matchmaster Foundation SPF 15 • US$35.00 (35 ml / 1.18 US fl oz)
- 193 Angled Foundation Brush • US$34.00
- 195 Concealer Brush • US$24.00
When does the collection come out?
