Back in 2010, MAC came out with a limited edition collection made in collaboration with Marcel Wanders, the MAC & Marcel Wanders collection.
That collection was described like this: “Design sophisticates will be bonkers for our extra-beautiful partnership with Marcel Wanders, the Dutch industrial designer known for his classicism-meets-futurism objects created with “a sense of love in the product”.
Now, MAC comes out with some new exciting addictions to the permanent line inspired to the Marcel Wanders collection! We’re talking about the Ultimate Collection!
“The epitome of bold luxury, M∙A∙C Ultimate combines an innovative design aesthetic with the sumptuous formulas of our Ultimate Lipstick and Sheer Mystery Powder. Ten new lip colours are utterly chic, while Sheer Mystery Powder smoothes onto skin in luminous hues that are barely there. Perfectly encased in modern geometric designs, this standout packaging features a sleek chrome finish in two cult-collectible accessories”.
How is the Ultimate Collection composed?
As always, some products are new and others are repromotes.
It is composed by 10 Ultimate Lipsticks and 4 Sheer Mystery Powders. In Asia, the collection exclusively counts 13 lipsticks. They range from neutrals to typical bright colours to deep and daring shades.
To Savour – Light Pink with Cool Undertone
Soft Pout – Neutral Peach with White Pearl (Already Released)
Marque – Dark Pink
Femme-de-Luxe – Bright Pink
Ravishingly Rich – Bright Orange
Catharina – Deep Bright Fuchsia (Already Released)
Audacious – Warm Medium Red
Vogue en Violet – Cool Violet
Dangerously Chic – Cool Medium Red
The Scene – Deep Plum (Already Released)
In Asia there are three additional and exclusive shades:
- Fashion Fruit

Sheer Mystery Powder
It can please everyone. From the girl that wants a natural look to the one that doesn’t want the tan to go away. It comes in four shades:
It’s definitely not the classic black MAC packaging. It follows the same concept of the collection studied with Marcel Wanders. This collection (and the 2010 one) features a jaw-dropping packaging with powders that look like prisms and with almost spherical lipstick cases.
Ultimate Lipstick $23.00 U.S. / $28.00 CDN
Sheer Mystery Powder $60.00 U.S. / $72.00 CDN
The powder is definitely too expensive, but it seems like it comes with a refill, so you, basically, buy two. I’ll keep you updated about it.
“Online September 24th, in-stores October 2nd, 2014 (North America), October 2014 (International). Permanent.”
It’s still not available on the MAC website. Guess that we’ll wait! 🙂
